General Instructions

Below are the “General Instructions” for the simulated negotiation. All participants should receive the general instructions–ideally, well in advance of the simulation. You can print the general instructions on regular white paper, since everyone gets the same copy. (But pay attention to the different printing instructions for the “Confidential Instructions” listed below.)

1. CoastSmart General Instructions Without Scorecard. This file is best for printing and use at the simulated negotiation if all of the participants already have their confidential instructions, which include scorecards.

2. CoastSmart General Instructions WITH Scorecard. This file is best for online viewing prior to the simulated negotiation. Because it includes the scorecard, it gives participants a clearer view of what will happen during the negotiation and of the options. If you print this version, you’ll waste a few pages because the participants will have two copies of the scorecard: one generic scorecard from this file and one annotated scorecard that comes with their confidential instructions.
